Interning at JIS

🏠Jersey Innovative Services is looking for interns – if you would like to make a difference in the life of a child, help mold a youth, and support our mission to strengthen our community, then come be a part of JIS!

Behavioral Assistants (BAs) are clinical support staff working with a child & family as part of a team collaborating with a care/case manager, licensed clinician and the child’s other team providers. BAs learn about finding resources, building linkages, clinical support, treatment plans, team approach, funding/grant writing, and advocacy.

Jersey Innovative Services offers PAID INTERNSHIPS to students $25hr plus travel stipends. Interns travel to the homes of the children. Internship hours are 2pm – 930pm Mondays – Fridays and 8:30am – 930pm Saturdays/Sundays. When creating a territory, students schedule around their home, school or other work within twenty mile radius. Our child ages are 3 to 21 years old. Clinical services operate on a family centered model incorporating support services for the child, caregivers and family. Children enter our program with moderate to high level mental health needs. Clinical services are 1 – 6 hours a week, per child for direct clinical and indirect hours. You can start at your own pace and there are multiple opportunities to shadow providers, sit in on sessions and attend site trainings, webinars before you start seeing kiddos!

Interns pair with Counselors and Social Work supervisors, separated by discipline. Most students start the onboarding process a few weeks before their internship. When you start, you will meet your supervisor.

Mentors meet with youth building confidence, finding jobs, practicing interviewing skills and exploring vocations. A mentor can also assist increasing social skills and building community opportunities, and locate recreational outlets. With college sites of psychology, criminal justice, and social work, students have PAID INTERNSHIPS from approved locations:
