Our Mission We appreciate your interest in helping the Afghan Refugees and assisting Jersey Innovative Services (JIS) in this mission. Although you may have applied to this position feeling you were a good fit for interpreter of English with another language, translation to an English speaking only provider or representative may not be your strongest asset. If this is the case, we invite you to participate in this program in another capacity. JIS is seeking staff that speak the Afghan language(s) and are familiar/sensitive to the cultural and religious backgrounds of the refugees.

Interpreter Someone who is certified/registered and/or fluent with the following languages: Dari, Farsi, Pashto, Uzbeki, Pashai, Balochi, Turkmeni, and/or Nuristani. An interpreter should be able to convey in English with fluidity to provider(s), military personnel and community liaisons. The pay is $25 a hour via telehealth online and in person- an additional travel stipend.

Licensed Clinician is recognized from a New Jersey State Board in clinical social work or counseling. State regulations mandate that all newly licensed clinicians have a clinical supervisor, JIS will provide a clinically licensed approved supervisor. The pay is $75 a hour via telehealth online and in person- an additional travel stipend for fully licensed in New Jersey, newly licensed under supervision the rate is $45 a hour via telehealth online and in person- an additional travel stipend. Behavioral Assistant (BA) are similar to a clinician, BA is able to collaborate with the team, assist child/family goals and strengthen social and coping sills. The pay is $25 a hour via telehealth online and in person- an additional travel stipend.

Mentor/Tutor is someone who is supportive to navigate children and families adjusting to US society, increase social, recreational, academic, vocational, and occupational competencies. The pay is $20 a hour via telehealth online and in person- an additional travel stipend.

Volunteers/Fundraising although Dr. Hollander appreciates all the requests to volunteer, fundraise and free offerings to help the Afghan refugees coming into New Jersey, we will gather names of local non-profits, groups and agencies who need your assistance for continuous or one-time help. All help to this community is very much appreciated. We will post on this website, in the future. Email Jersey Innovative Services if you would like to add your community program to our website.

FAQ 1: I filled out an application, I attended an informational session, I am ready to start- what is next? Phase 1: New Jersey and the military are working on assisting the Afghans with basic needs- hygiene, housing, clothing, food, school, work, and medical. When the teams start moving into Phase 2, you will be contacted.

FAQ 2: I contacted Humans Resources, the Afghan Director and Dr. Hollander and no one is getting back to me or answering my questions. Due to the overwhelming demand and interest in working with the Afghans, we are working on applications, finding resources, and screening applicants.
